b) to become in colloquial Hebrew: hofech, nehefach, ne’eßah

In spoken Hebrew the Israeli often uses auxiliary constructions with the verb hofechto turn into or with the nif’al of the verb to makene’esah, i.e. is made or was made.

She has become strange in the last time. .היא נעשתה משונה בזמן האחרון
hi ne’estah meshunah be-zman ha-acharon.
He will become director next week. .הוא הופך להיות מנהל בשבוע הבא
hu hofech liheyot menahel be-shav uaha-ba .
